You know what I just realized?
Okay, so, The Secret Garden is my favorite book of all time and Archibald Craven is one of my favorite characters. If you’re not familiar with the story, Archie’s beloved wife died giving birth to their son Colin, leaving him deep in depression and mourning for most of Colin’s life/the book.
Because he still loves her and the garden they shared, even though he’s locked it away, and I just made the connection between Archie and mot of my headcanons for Marcus???
In my mind, he and Didyme loved flowers and shared a secret garden, Marcus locking it away once she died and falling deep into mourning. Archie is supposed to run his estate/raise his son but leaves it all to others out of grief, just as Marcus neglects his role as a king and allows Aro/Caius to rule mostly. Both are devoted husbands left to mourn the greatest of loves but Archie at least recovers, realizing he can be with Lily by being with Colin/the garden…and Marcus doesn’t get that.
Whish is maybe why I’m always writing him love stories with happy endings, because I want him to be happy too.
So apparently, I have two tragic OTPs:
Archie x Lilly and Marcus x Didyme.
gentle reminder: you are very capable and I’m excited for your future
slightly less gentle reminder: you do have to work for it
*annoyed but resigned moan of frustration*
I think I found a secret in twilight and I don’t think anyone else has said or noticed it before??? (movie not book)
So you know the scene after the whole James thing where Bella is in the hospital and during her conversation there is a TV in the background
the TV is literally playing the previous scene of Edward sucking out the venom and the cullens chucking dead james’ limbs into the fire
and it just makes me laugh
also because her mum was in the room at some point asking her of she remembers how it happened while she’s oblivious to it replaying behind her
And the English Lit student in me is screaming to analyse it only being visable when we see eddy boy feeling guilty because in this essay I will-
My latest comic for The Nib was written by my friend Mike Thompson- it’s his first published comics work!
The Nib has been a steady source of income and a huge support to me and many other indie cartoonists for years. They publish amazing work, but will be cut loose by their financial backer in July. You can read the official post about it from editor Matt Bors here. They are still running their kickstarter-funded print magazine, but have to put digital publishing on hiatus until they figure out their next steps. If you’ve been thinking about supporting their membership program, now would be a good time. They have levels from $2 to $40 per month. I really don’t want this to be my last Nib piece!
